Eve (Black Cat)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Eve
is a genetically engineered bio-weapon and young girl from the manga Black Cat. She uses nanotechnology to transform her body. At this point she can only change her arm, but she is supposed to be able to transform her body when she grows. She has to picture something to do it. Raised like a lab rat, Sven treats her like a real person and opens up her world.
Eve resembles the character "Kiniro no Yami" (translated as "The Golden Darkness") in Kentaro Yabuki's newest series, To-LOVE-Ru. As usual, she can manipulate her body into a variety of weapons and shapes.
Eve in the manga
Eve is a young girl known to be 11 years old.She was cloned from Professor Tearju Lunatique. She was designed as the ultimate soldier, having been injected with nanomachines that allow her to change her body's shape and composition at will. Examples of this are turning her arms into blades, hammers and shields, turning her own skin into steel, sprouting wings, and firing feathers at ranged opponents. Her hair is her best weapon, as she can turn it into fists (or later, into monofilament blades) that attack with blurring speed. She was raised by Torneo Rudman (an influential dealer in the underground weapons market) to be an emotionless killing machine. However, Sven rescues her and teaches her how to live by her own choices. Now she travels with Sven and Train. She seems to perceive Train as a rival, wanting to replace him as Sven's partner, but this is done for Sven's attention. Additionally, she loves reading, and can remember everything in a book after reading it once. One of her most noteworthy transformations is into a mermaid, during her battle against Leon Elliott at Clarken Island.
Eve in the anime
Eve in the anime (Ending Theme 1)
Eve does not seem to have the intense rivalry with Train as she did in the manga. This is most likely because due to the anime's altered timeline of events, Eve actually ended up joining Sven before Train does. Although in the anime Eve never displays the urge to replace Train as Sven's partner, she is still highly competitive with him, which is shown on many occasions when she would try to catch a criminal before he does. It is hinted in the anime that she could have 'romantic interest' in Sven. In addition, there is foreshadowing in the anime that Eve is cloned from Tearju Lunatique, as Tearju has appeared in the anime as a hospitalized patient with the same hair as Eve. After Creed's defeat in Clarken Island Eve is captured by Mason's Zero Numbers who then uses her to start the Eden project. Mason had arranged for Sven to capture Eve when the accident at Torneo's mansion occurred, so he would raise her well, as Eve saw Sven as the ideal paternal figure, taking away the supposed "romantic interest" in him. That way, Mason could use Eve when she was mature enough to implant her in the Eden machine that would create the monstruous creature that is shown in the Anime, that would bring "world peace" by absorbing every single person in the world, turning them into lobotomized creatures incapable of thought other than obeying Mason and his team. Eve does not resonate with Eden, as she's stopped in the final stage by Sven and Train, who rescue her.
